cherry picking

The fallacy of cherry picking occurs when an arguer presents a subset of the relevant data that supports the arguer's conclusion, while leaving out data or facts that are inconvenient.

Here is an example:

Lupe: "Did you get good grades this term?"

Karl: "Yeah, I got an A in History!"

Karl is cherry picking here, giving the impression he has good grades, conveniently leaving out the poor marks on his report card.
